How To Register


Use Web Registration to add courses.

Web Registration for matriculated students begins Monday, April 8 and closes Friday, May 24.

Registration for Open University or Non-matriculated students, who do not have official admission to San Jose State University, begins Monday, April 22 and closes Friday, May 24.

No registration and drop activities between May 25 and June 2

Registration is generally available 24 hours, 7 days a week.

Normal maintenance occurs Monday evenings, 8:00 - 11:00 p.m.

1Verify that you have your UserID and password.
2Review the courses available and select your courses
3Go to my.sjsu.edu to login and register, Choose "Summer Session One" for all of your classes.

Open University Students

Course Details

Consult the “Class Schedule” at http://summer.sjsu.edu/class-schedule for information (section #, 5 digit class code, day, time, location, faculty name and dates) of your intended courses for that term.


First time or previous-term undergrad/post-bac OU students can register online within a certain time frame (refer to calendar for dates) by following instructions at http://my.sjsu.edu/students/student_tutorials/index.html

  • First time students see Open University Registration - New Students
  • Previous-term students see Open University Registration - Continuing Students

  • Graduate students, students disqualified from Spring 2013 and other students who do not register online complete the Summer 2013 Registration form and fax to 408.924.2077, or submit in person to window “R” in the Student Services Center. For all 200-level courses, complete the Summer 2013 Registration form, submit to the Graduate Admission and Program Evaluation (GAPE) counter, window G in the Student Services Center or fax to 408.924.2477 for approval.



    Waiting Lists

    If you have been placed on the waiting list, check your MySJSU periodically to check your status. Payment is due immediately if the deadline has passed.

    Steps to Take After Web Registration Closes

    If you missed the Advance Web Registration period, you can register on the first day of class. Beginning June 3, matriculated and Open University students with permission number(s) log onto my.sjsu.edu to register; or submit Summer Registration Form to add classes. Beginning June 11, all students must use a Late Enrollment Request form with instructor, department chair and CIES Associate Dean signatures to register. Follow instructions below for the paper registration process. All transactions required a valid ID with picture.

    1Download the Late Enrollment Petition form from summer.sjsu.edu
    2Complete the form and obtain the instructor's signature
    3Submit completed form at window R in the Student Services Center.
